Transforming Lives

Our beliefs with regard to Doctrine and Theology.

We believe at Refuge Services that as Christians and disciples for Christ we are commanded to teach, counsel, cherish and love people, teaching them about Christ as their Savior, helping them to become all they can be in Christ and to live happy, abundant life (Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”). We believe it is our duty to use our God-given talents to glorify God and help others (Gal. 6:10 & Eph. 4:1). Refuge Services ministers to clients by teaching them about God’s character and by living our life to glorify God (Matt 5:16 “…Let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven”). We believe in teaching clients about living by the Spirit as Paul instructs in Galatians 5:16-26 – teaching principles of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These qualities are the answer to combating the sinful nature of man which creates such turmoil in each person’s life.

The name Refuge Services outlines within itself our beliefs as an organization. Refuge Services is based on Psalms 46, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble…” In addition, Refuge is an acronym for Restoration, Experiencing, Family Unity, God & Environment. All of which have theological basis outlining the organization’s theological beliefs.

  • Restoration – we strive to restore each client back to a healthy, Godly self-worth (Gal. 6:1-2, “Brothers, if someone is caught in sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently…Carry each other’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”).

  • Experiencing – we believe God desires us to be an active component in our healing process. In John 8:4-11, Jesus encountered a woman who needed a lifestyle change just as many of the clients we see do. This woman was caught in adultery and could have been stoned for such actions. This required the woman to make several drastic changes in her life, which demonstrates Christ’s instruction that we have to do our part for lifestyle changes to take lace in our lives.

  • Family Unity – we believe God commands us to love, forgive and make peace with our family and family in Christ (Matt 5:23-24, “therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave you gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to our brother; then come back and offer your gift.” Lev. 19:18, “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself”).

  • God – we believe that God is the supreme authority and creator of all (Gen. 1:27, “God created man in his own image…”). We believe the Holy Bible is the only, infallible, Holy Spirit inspired Word of God, from which we receive our foundation of faith (2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”). We believe that God is a loving, merciful and caring God who is with us always. We believe God is a faithful and forgiving God. We believe God is our protector and our refuge (Psalm 37).

  • Environment – we believe that God created the heavens and the earth and all creations within it (Psalm 24:1, “the earth is the Lord’s; and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it…”).
